Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so! If you just sang that line in your head, you get extra cool points for the day! There are plenty of instances in the Bible that show ways that Jesus loves us. From birth to death, Jesus expressed love in many ways that we can apply in our own lives today.
I’d like to get personal with you for a moment and share my own experience with Jesus’s love.
On Groundhog Day my husband and I will be celebrating 20 years of marriage. In that time we’ve experienced more hills, valleys, twists, and turns than the greatest roller coaster in the world. One problem we’ve struggled with over the years is understanding our love languages. It’s so easy to give the kind of love that we want to receive, instead of giving the type of love the other wants to receive. That often leads to feeling lonely and unloved.
Thank God Jesus loves me!
Without His love, I wouldn’t be able to understand those moments that felt disappointing because I wanted/needed to be loved by my husband in a certain way. It’s in those times that Jesus stepped in and redirected my focus to remember that he’s loving me in his way, not mine. Intentions matter when it comes to love. So when I’d rather spend the evening snuggled up and watching a movie with my husband and he’d rather spend it cooking my favorite meal, I can confidently put those lonely feelings aside and recognize that the assignment was to love, that’s all. My husband consistently shows that he understands and completes the assignment in a way that makes sense to him. I cannot ask for more than that.
I pray that something you read this month will motivate you to love more and inspire others to invite Jesus into their hearts.
