God’s 2-Way Street

The purpose of God’s 2-way street is to love and be loved in return. That’s what everyone wants in life anyway, right? So why should God be any different?

In the song covered by cute little Stacy Lattisaw back in the 80s, she talks about losing her first love on a lonely highway. The lyrics say “to be loved and fooled is a crying shame”.

True statement, right? We’ve all felt like that at some point in our lives. Thinking someone loves us only to find out that they really didn’t.

It hurts. A lot.

Many of us grew up “in church” but never really paid attention. Some even went as far as getting baptized. Not because they genuinely believed, but because they thought it was the right thing to do. How do you think that made God feel? They did and said all the “right things” but never actually loved God the way He loves us. I’m positive God feels that pain.

This month we will learn about some of God’s promises before Christ and what he required in return. We’ll go over the many ways He blessed His people and how they continuously broke His heart.  The goal is to help you realize the pain God went through before He sent His son to die for our sins. Keep in mind that Jesus not only paid the price for our sins, but He also made it so that God has no more need to punish us. That does not mean that He doesn’t hurt when we break His heart, it means that He will forgive.

I pray that something you read this month will inspire you to encourage a friend or loved one to think about their relationship with God.

Blessings,
